Taipei MRT Flood Control Design Standards
The majority of the metro system routes are placed underground to avoid flooding. The flood prevention and protection facilities are incorporated into the system design. The flood prevention planning and design of the Taipei metropolitan area metro system takes into account factors such as the functionality of the metro facilities, service life, safety requirements, engineering economics, and the safety and protection level of the levee system in the greater Taipei area flood control plan. The standard for flood prevention protection for the Taipei metro system uses a 200-year flood level plus 50 cm as the basis. The protection principles and methods are designed to effectively prevent ground flooding for all openings (including excavation sections) and depots under the aforementioned flood protection standard.
