In urban areas, villages, and suburban areas, trees planted along roads, medians, or sidewalks can be referred to as "roadside trees." The planting of sidewalk trees should be arranged in rows at regular intervals, emphasizing the functions of beautifying the environment, purifying the air, regulating the climate, mitigating noise, and shading pedestrians. According to Article 5 of the New Taipei City Tree Protection Autonomy Ordinance, it refers to a tall tree planted on provincial highways, county roads, township roads, or urban roads.
