Since the launch of the community correction system in 1989, South Korea has been intensively researching and developing relevant measures year by year. Today, it adopts a unique system model that integrates adults and minors. Its organizational system ranges from the "Crime Prevention Policy Bureau" of the central Ministry of Justice to local governments. The "Protection Observation Review Committee" and the "Protection Observation Institute" are both specialized agencies for community correction. According to the division of work, a two-level review mechanism is adopted, each performing its own duties. It uses the "Protective Observation Law" as a special law for community correction.
