To increase the recycling rate, reduce waste, implement the concept of turning garbage into gold, inspire community vitality, promote environmental education, and improve environmental hygiene, the New Taipei City Government's Environmental Protection Bureau launched the "Gold Recycling Station" policy at the end of August 2011. This policy encourages neighborhood chiefs to set up recycling stations. Residents can bring recyclable items to the recycling stations to be weighed, accumulate points, and exchange them for New Taipei City's special garbage bags and other redemption items.
