To increase the recycling rate, reduce the amount of garbage, implement the concept of turning waste into gold, inspire community vitality, promote environmental education, and improve environmental sanitation in New Taipei City, the Environmental Protection Bureau of the city government launched the "Golden Recycling Station" policy at the end of August 2011. This policy encourages neighborhood chiefs to set up recycling stations. Residents can bring recyclable materials to the recycling stations, where they can be weighed, accumulate points, and redeem for New Taipei City's special garbage bags and other exchange items.
