The case study of strengthening adaptive capacity of the highway system in response to climate change
To enhance adaptation capabilities in various areas to respond to climate change, our country announced and implemented the "Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Act" in July 2015, and revised it to the "Climate Change Response Act" in February 2023. Article 19 stipulates that the central competent authority for the purpose should formulate a four-year adaptation action plan for areas vulnerable to the impacts of climate change to address the impacts of global warming. Our organization has previously drafted the "Guidelines for Adaptation in the Planning Phase of the Highway System" to further guide the specific implementation by the competent authorities responsible for highway facilities. This project continues to collect and analyze adaptation case studies, providing references for the responsible competent authorities for highway facilities to enhance the planning, design, and management of the highway system, and improve its adaptation capabilities.
