Starting from the 108th year, research on the traditional marine culture and knowledge of the Amis people has been carried out continuously on the east coast. Through anthropological field investigations, it was found that the indigenous language place names are rich in elements of coastal terrain, nearshore waters, marine ecology, historical memory, and the long-term interaction between people and the ocean. They also contain many contents related to maritime risks. These traditional place names describing the coast or marine area are telling the accumulated and inherited marine knowledge of the Amis people, as well as the wisdom of harmonious coexistence with the natural environment. Unfortunately, due to the influence of later immigrants and the long-term implementation of national language policies, they are now almost unknown. This research will conduct a survey on traditional place names and marine culture in the northern coast and northeast region, and collect traditional knowledge related to maritime risks through historical documents and oral interviews as well as other humanities research methods, and cross-confirm them with simultaneous marine environmental investigations. Based on an interdisciplinary and cross-domain perspective, this study hopes to provide different historical depths for the overall research results of the "Marine Recreation Activity Safety Dynamic Information System Construction Project" through cross-checking with data obtained from modern scientific instruments. On the other hand, it also aims to preserve the rapidly disappearing marine culture due to modern industrial transformation and social change in the local areas, and leave a historical record for the various ethnic groups that have lived there.
