Nansha Taiping Island is located in the tropical region, in the northern central Zhenghe Atoll of the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea. The island is the largest in size and is a naturally formed island, with a length of 1,360 meters and a width of about 350 meters, and a total perimeter of 2,850 meters. The total area is approximately 0.51 square kilometers. The intertidal zone of the island's shore is formed by coral reefs, which are not easily exposed during low tide. Due to its advantageous geographical location, the offshore environment harbors abundant fisheries resources. The main subjects of study are fish, invertebrates, and large algae. Large algae are particularly important as the primary producers and are the most easily captured in images. Therefore, it is necessary to establish long-term basic biological information on the intertidal zone of Nansha Taiping Island. The purpose of the project is to continue the investigation of the species composition and coverage of large seaweeds in the intertidal zone of Nansha Taiping Island, inventorying basic data around the shore each season, which can also be used to assess the feasibility of future habitat environments.According to the report "Overall Planning for the Establishment of the National Marine Ecological Survey and Monitoring Network and Monitoring Regulations" by this institute, the ecological survey methods will be used for this investigation. The research results can be used for marine ecology and conservation research, and can also provide government agencies with resources for the investigation of large algae in the intertidal zones around Nansha Taiping Island and its surroundings to facilitate marine habitat restoration and conservation, biological surveys, education and scientific research, and long-term establishment of important reference basis for basic data.
