In recent years, the government has been committed to promoting various rail system-related construction projects and plans to promote light rail transportation systems in metropolitan areas. To ensure that future systems can provide transportation services of expected quality under the most economical conditions, systematic rail capacity analysis methods and tools are needed. Therefore, since the year 2019, our institute has been conducting related research and has compiled the results into the "Taiwan Railway Capacity Manual - Light Rail Transportation System" (Sections A and B). This section is the fourth chapter of the manual, introducing the methods of railway capacity analysis for light rail transportation systems, the use of railway capacity analysis programs, and illustrating their application through several case studies. Our institute will continue to devote efforts to railway capacity-related research in order to make the content of the Taiwan Railway Capacity Manual more comprehensive and provide reference for relevant units.
