This project aims to review and discuss literature and cases in order to summarize the operational processes and evaluation criteria for mass rapid transit network planning, compile a reference manual for mass rapid transit network planning and design suitable for the national situation, and facilitate the subsequent promotion and review of rapid transit projects. In the first year of the project (2019), a review of relevant domestic and international literature was completed, and the operational processes and evaluation criteria for mass rapid transit network planning were developed. The main planning items recommended include urban development planning, transportation development, transportation demand forecasting, network scheme development, system type selection, network integration planning, and phased development plans, and to conduct network scheme evaluation decision-making based on transportation demand and urban development related indicators, and to compile and propose the first draft of the "Mass Rapid Transit Network Planning Reference Manual" based on relevant research results.
