Offshore Wind Farm Construction and Navigation Safety Technology Development (4/4) - Evaluation of the Impact of Wind on the Safe Navigation of Vessels in the Waters Adjacent to Taichung Port
To cope with global warming and implement adaptation measures, Taiwan is actively promoting green energy development. In response to the construction of offshore wind farms, numerous work vessels will be entering and leaving Taichung Port and nearby waters in the future. For navigational safety considerations, it is urgent to understand and grasp the marine meteorological characteristics of this area in order to enhance navigational safety and assist in port safety management. Currently, there is a lack of observational data in offshore wind energy areas. Therefore, it is necessary to use numerical forecast models to provide marine meteorological information for this area. Accordingly, the research method will analyze the variation characteristics of the marine meteorological environment in the Taichung Port area using 2019 observational data, then establish numerical model forecasts for the wind and wave fields in the Taichung Port area. By incorporating a forecast error correction system, more accurate marine meteorological forecasts for the offshore wind energy area will be provided through error correction.
