The park not only provides people with a place to rest during regular times, but can also serve as a temporary shelter when disasters strike. By taking into account spatial and regional characteristics to increase accommodation needs, the overall disaster prevention and rescue capabilities in the city can be enhanced. After assessing and investigating public facilities in non-hazardous areas such as district offices, activity centers, schools, and parks within the city, the Social Bureau, as the competent authority, inventoried 40 parks in the city that can be used as temporary shelters. In addition to providing park land for use as temporary shelters, the bureau is also strengthening the management of disaster prevention parks as shelter locations by assisting district offices in improving relevant facilities, completing the production of disaster prevention park emergency shelter signs, and assisting in optimizing park hardware facilities. Furthermore, the "Taichung City Disaster Prevention Park Planning Operation Guidelines" handbook has been revised to strengthen the management of disaster prevention park establishment and enhance collaboration with the Civil Affairs Bureau, Social Bureau, and district offices to maximize the functionality of disaster prevention parks when disasters strike.
