Provider's Civil Liability Exemption FAQ
Due to the fact that all kinds of internet infringement activities need to be carried out through the services provided by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), ISPs often face the risk of lawsuits for alleged infringement, which is detrimental to the development of the internet industry. In order to address this issue, the Intellectual Property Office refers to the practices of various countries and promulgated the new Chapter 6-1 "Civil Exemption Grounds for Internet Service Providers" of the Copyright Law on May 13, 2009. In order to help ISPs and the public understand the content of the article, this document compiles common questions and answers about the article in order to enable copyright owners and ISPs to cooperate and implement copyright protection.
