The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." In the era of democracy and rule of law, these demands have become the fundamental principles of national governance. Article 7 of our Constitution "The people of the Republic of China, regardless of sex, religion, race, class, or party affiliation, shall all be equal before the law." Reveals the legislative spirit of equality rights, and other constitutional provisions guarantee basic human rights and the principles of separation and balance of powers, in order to consolidate national power, protect people's rights, establish social peace, and promote the welfare of the people as its purpose. As it is the fundamental law of the country, its basic principles and purposes have become the basis for the enactment of other laws. For example: our civil law stipulates private autonomy and reciprocity; criminal law stipulates the principle of legality of crimes and punishments, and the protection of individual and social legal interests; and administrative law emphasizes the principles of lawful administration, proportionality, and necessity, among others. Although there are millions of laws, there exists a central system among them, and this basic law must be well known to everyone, becoming the standard for the behavior of all citizens. This set of books introduces the legislative principles and spirit of the six basic laws of our country, hoping that readers can understand the norms and functions of the law, aiming to cultivate good habits of understanding, obeying, and respecting the law, and thus establish a safe, stable, and secure rule of law country for everyone.
