To explore the changes in the number of patent applications between Taiwan and foreign countries and the development trends of the top ten emerging industries in Taiwan, the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs extracts the raw data from its patent database for the past three years. It compares the changes in the number of applications for "domestic and foreign individuals," "the five major municipalities in Taiwan and Hsinchu County," "the top ten fields," and "the top ten countries (regions) for applying for invention patents." Furthermore, it further compares the changes in the number of applications for the "top five countries for Taiwan and foreign countries" and the "domestic and foreign exemplary applicants" in the top ten fields. In addition, it compares the application situation of the top ten domestic legal entities (including universities, privately owned enterprises, and national-level research institutions) for inventions and utility models accepted in Taiwan, for reference by all sectors.
