The burial of pipelines is one of the important projects for water supply. Due to the financial difficulties of Taiwan Water Corporation, early on, in order to improve the coverage rate of water supply with limited funds, more pipelines were buried. The main types of pipelines used include plastic pipes (PVCP) and other economical types. In recent years, in order to improve the leakage situation, the principle of distributing water pipes has changed to using ductile iron pipes (DIP) with better seismic resistance, longer service life, and better leakage prevention effects. This is to overall improve the quality of the pipeline network as a preventive measure against leakage. Taiwan Water Corporation also continues to cooperate with the evolution of domestic production, economic and environmental conditions, and government energy-saving and carbon reduction policies, choosing high-quality pipe types to reduce the occurrence of leaks. This dataset provides statistical analysis of the length of various types of pipelines for each year for Taiwan Water Corporation.
