Taiwan Sugar Corporation_Research Institute Sugar Library
The Sugarcane Research Library was established in the 21st year of the Republic of China. Over the years, the reading room and book collection have been expanded. The collection of books, especially those related to the sugar industry, has increased annually, making it rare among domestic libraries. In 1975, a new library building was constructed, providing more spacious book storage and reading rooms, making borrowing and accessing information more convenient. The library is a 3-story building with an underground level, covering an area of more than 120 ping. The collection mainly focuses on sugarcane agriculture, sugar industry, biochemistry, biotechnology, horticulture, and by-product utilization, with a current collection of over 50,000 volumes. The Sugarcane Research Library provides research services for the institution, distinct from general libraries and university libraries. Given limited funding and personnel, its work includes: (1) purchasing domestic and foreign publications, reference books, and various Chinese, Japanese, and English magazines; (2) registration; (3) classification and cataloging; (4) archiving; (5) circulation and reading; (6) reference consultation; (7) interlibrary cooperation; and (8) publication. Due to limited staff, visitors are required to make appointments in advance. Please contact Miss Fan at 06-2671911 ext. 416.
