1. The new labor pension system started on July 1, 2005, allowing employers to voluntarily contribute 6% of their employees' monthly wages to the retirement fund.2. After the amendment of the Labor Pension Act on January 17, 2014, employers are allowed to contribute to the retirement fund for appointed workers and those not covered by the Labor Standards Act within the 6% range of their monthly wages.3. According to Article 11 of the "Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professional Talent" that took effect on February 8, 2018, foreign professional talent employed for professional work and granted permanent residency by the National Immigration Agency can be included in the contribution scope. If they are not covered by the Labor Standards Act, their employers can contribute to the retirement fund within the 6% range of their monthly wages.4. With the amendment of the Labor Pension Act on May 17, 2019, foreign workers who have been granted permanent residency in Taiwan under relevant regulations of the Immigration Act are included in the contribution scope.
