Datagov Opendata Platform

Data set description:This data records a total of 163 water image monitoring stations established by the Water Resources Agency throughout Taiwan, equipped with 121 cameras. The monitoring has been carried out since 2005, capturing an image every ten minutes, and from September 2020, the frequency has been increased to every minute. This long-term observation of river evolution provides valuable image data for disaster prevention and environmental conservation research. Additionally, as most water level gauges are located along riverbanks and are prone to damage or malfunction during flooding or rapid rises in water levels, the monitoring stations, mostly situated away from flood-prone areas, use optical zoom for remote monitoring. As a supplementary system for water monitoring, the image data can be utilized to confirm the water situation remotely when the original system fails and can provide on-site information for disaster prevention through image processing and recognition technology. In recent years, efforts have been made to improve night vision functionality and backup systems to enhance recognition and reliability. Furthermore, big data technology has been employed to analyze and predict the equipment usage period, serving as a reference for proactive maintenance with the aim of achieving uninterrupted service.
