The Central Research Institute's Fish Specimen Data
The Fish Database In view of the frequency of changes in the fish classification system and species names, the new records or spatiotemporal distribution data of Taiwanese fish species are increasing day by day. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a database and provide the constantly revised data on Taiwan's indigenous fish species to the public for reference at any time through the World Wide Web. The purpose of the establishment is: 1. To provide information on the latest research results to the academic community (especially in fish classification), promote domestic and international academic exchanges, and enhance the academic research level. 2. To provide the government and the private sector with reference data for the conservation, assessment of Taiwan's aquatic ecology, and fishery resource development and management. 3. To help standardize the names of fish species (scientific names, Chinese names, and common names in Chinese and English).
