The National Science and Technology Commission Datun Volcano Observatory_Volcanic Gas Monitoring
Volcanic gases, in addition to escaping from the vents, also diffuse to the surface through the soil pores. Therefore, changes in soil gases can effectively monitor volcanic activity, so continuous soil gas monitoring stations are set up at Xiao Youkeng to primarily analyze carbon dioxide. Rainfall and atmospheric temperature are also recorded to understand the impact of environmental factors on soil carbon dioxide emission flux.
