Chronic kidney disease staging criteria
The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) represents the function of the kidneys, with a lower eGFR indicating poorer kidney function. In clinical practice, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is classified into five stages based on eGFR. Stages 1 to 3a are early CKD, while stages 3b to 5 are pre-end-stage renal disease (pre-ESRD).
