The National Land Ecology Green Network Plan has selected 17 types of green networks to focus on freshwater fish. These include compiling data on Taiwan's biodiversity network (TBN), the Water Resources Agency's annual river situation surveys, and the Forestry Bureau's (restructured to the Forestry Administration on August 1, 112) historical surveys of aquatic biological resources over the past 15 years. After consulting with experts and scholars, records possibly misidentified and distributions introduced from outside of the area were deleted. Then, based on the habitat and core population distribution of the individual species, they were categorized into "green network focus rivers" and "green network focus on farmland irrigation channels or ponds." At the same time, this plan also complements the existing important rivers in various forestry management areas related to the regional green network inventory or implementation to ensure consistency and coherence in overall green network policy planning and execution. For the identified important rivers or closed and semi-closed water environments, it is recommended that each unit prioritize focus areas, complemented by further issue inventories, habitat environment status analysis, and the collection of biological data (including the distribution of invasive species). Based on the original habitat's health status, river or wetland pond restoration work will be promoted through inter-agency collaboration.
