Using the UNESCO Language Vitality Index to evaluate the vitality of Hakka in Taiwan.
This project assesses the endangered status of Hakka language in Taiwan based on UNESCO's language vitality indicators, and explores the implications of language vitality indicators for the revitalization of Hakka language, in order to serve as a basis for the Hakka Affairs Council to promote relevant policies for Hakka language inheritance and seek cooperation with international organizations. The project will use both quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate the vitality of Hakka language based on UNESCO's language vitality indicators, and propose theoretical and empirical-based recommendations for the revitalization of Hakka language based on language revitalization theory.
