Early in Taiwan, the construction of reservoirs was underway, with reservoir management being one of the important tasks of this department. Each year, the department maintains the basic information of announced reservoirs, and the management units of the reservoirs measure and update the production as needed. The data mainly consists of the report's latest information for the year, including annual, regional, reservoir name, design total capacity, design effective capacity, current total capacity, current effective capacity, the most recent completion of reservoir capacity measurement, and reservoir sedimentation. The data is updated annually to serve as the basis for the department's understanding of the sedimentation status of each reservoir and to evaluate the reservoir's lifespan based on the sedimentation status of each reservoir. This includes executing dredging and other related projects, striving to maximize the performance of each reservoir.
