After our country joined the WTO, the domestic industrial structure changed significantly. The sugar industry faced difficult operating conditions, and Taiwan Sugar Corporation incurred consecutive losses in its core business. Therefore, the company made a diversified business plan and integrated its industry characteristics to establish eight business divisions, including biotechnology, leisure recreation, animal husbandry, fine agriculture, sugar, commodity marketing, retail, and oil products. However, the company's operational performance has been unsatisfactory in recent years and requires urgent improvement. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and the state-owned enterprise supervisory commission have urged Taiwan Sugar Corporation to actively promote operational transformation plans.
