Water Resources Agency Mammal Survey Data
This dataset mainly includes the basin, river, sampling point, date, species, usage method, and quantity of the survey location. The dataset is provided by the River Situation Survey Database Management System of the Hydraulic and Hydrological Experiment Institute of the Water Resources Agency, which integrates the river situation data completed by the Water Resources Agency over the years as a unified management and inquiry website for river situation survey data. It is expected to be used as reference data for river water resources management, ecological environment maintenance, and environmental improvement planning for river area structures. The key content of this data is species, location, and time, allowing users to further analyze the spatiotemporal distribution of species. According to the operation guidelines for river situation surveys, the survey should last for at least one year, with a minimum frequency of once per quarter, and efforts should be made to avoid using adjacent months as data for two seasons. For survey methods, the determination of medium and large mammals is conducted based on footprints, excrement, and other traces; the collection of small mammals such as rodents and shrews is carried out using the line transect method for baiting traps; and the identification of bats can be conducted using the echo-location method of ultrasonic recording.
