To implement the principle of "beneficiaries pay and beneficiaries compensate," the "amendment to certain articles of the Water Supply Act" announced by the President on June 30, 2004, stipulates that those who use surface water or groundwater in the water quality and quantity protection zone of tap water should pay a water resource conservation and feedback fee, which was levied from January 1, 2006. The water resource conservation and feedback fee is dedicated to the use within the water quality and quantity protection zone. It is used for water resource conservation, environmental ecological conservation infrastructure, public welfare feedback for residents, compensation for restricted land, and public welfare, water resource education, research, and conservation matters according to Article 12-2, Paragraph 3 of the Water Supply Act. This dataset compiles the amounts of water resource conservation and feedback fees collected from various water quality and quantity protection zones in previous years and the allocation and use of funds by relevant implementing units (county and city governments, township and town councils).
