Note
The contents of the introduction: Wages are the remuneration for workers' work, and the main source of economic support for workers and their families. Pensions and severance pay are closely related to workers' retirement (resignation) life, so the guarantee of wages, pensions, and severance pay is very important. In order to ensure that workers are immediately protected when their employers close, liquidate, or declare bankruptcy and owe wages, pensions, and severance pay, to prevent workers from suddenly losing their means of living, the government has specially established the arrears wage compensation fund system in Article 28 of the Labor Standards Act to promote the spirit of mutual assistance among enterprises and the social responsibility, and to strengthen the protection of workers' economic life. For business units applicable to the Labor Standards Act, the employer shall pay 0.25 of the total wages of the employees as arrears wage compensation fund on a monthly basis. When the employer closes, liquidates, or declares bankruptcy, the arrears of wages, retirement benefits under the Labor Standards Act, severance pay, or severance pay under the Labor Retirement Benefits Act may be advanced by the fund, and the employer shall repay the advances to the arrears wage compensation fund within the specified period.
