Within 48 hours of acute ischemic stroke, giving an initial high dose of oral antithrombotic medication can significantly reduce mortality and adverse outcomes, with the benefit of reducing early stroke recurrence; evidence also shows that in cases of acute mild ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attacks, short-term combined use of antithrombotic medication can reduce stroke recurrence without increasing the risk of bleeding or major events.
