The National Land Ecological Green Network project has selected 17 species of freshwater fish to be the focus of the green network. It will collect distribution data from the Taiwan Biodiversity Network (TBN), the annual river situation surveys conducted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Water Resources Agency, and the relevant water area biological resource surveys conducted by the Forestry Bureau (restructured as the Forestry Administration on August 1, 112). After consulting with experts and scholars, records of potential misidentifications and the distribution of transboundary releases will be removed. The identified areas will be divided into "Green Network focus rivers" and "Green Network focus agricultural field canals or ponds" based on the characteristics of individual species and the approximate distribution areas of core populations. Additionally, the project will supplement existing important rivers in regional green networks for consistency and coherence in overall green network policy planning and implementation. For the identified important rivers or closed and semi-closed water environments, it is recommended that each unit prioritize these areas for further issue inventory, habitat environmental status analysis, and biological data collection (including the distribution of invasive species). Based on the original habitat's health status, river or wetland pond restoration work will be promoted through inter-agency collaboration.
