The Trade Secrets Act was promulgated and implemented in 1996. Until now, various countries have amended their laws on trade secret protection to add criminal liability for infringing acts or to increase penalties. In recent years, several cases of former employees misappropriating or leaking trade secrets of their former employers, as well as serious cases of illegally obtaining trade secrets of Taiwanese industries through unlawful means, have occurred in the industry. This not only infringes on the important research and development achievements of the industry but also seriously affects fair competition in the industry. On January 30, 2013, our country amended and promulgated Articles 13-1 to 13-4 of this Act, adding criminal liability, extraterritorial aggravated punishment, and provisions for concurrent punishment. In order to enhance understanding and knowledge of the basic concepts of trade secrets and the amended content among various sectors, the Intellectual Property Office provides the "Trade Secrets Act Regulations Information" dataset on the government's open data platform for various sectors to understand the relevant laws and regulations of the trade secrets act in our country, in the hope of effectively protecting trade secrets.
